If you don’t know Latin, this company’s name could sound a bit obscure. However, Coelsanus means “clean and healthy sky,” like the sky of the company’s native Vicenza, not too far from Venice. Thanks to unusual air circulation, in this part of the Veneto region (Northeast Italy), the sky is not afflicted by the industrial haze of the Po valley, creating a microclimate that enriches the flavors of the products of the land.
In 1932 Elena and Giovanni Fraccaro opened a bakery in the historic town of Castelfranco, Veneto, in northern Italy, a beautiful old city surrounded by high defensive walls and not too far from Venice. They began to produce high-quality bread in several varieties. Elena and Giovanni also offered confectionery specialties, quickly becoming very popular in the area.
