Since 1827, Sant' Agata d'Oneglia produces excellent extra virgin olive oil in the beautiful Liguria region, in northern Italy, one of the most gorgeous coasts in Europe.

Almost two centuries of superb olive oil

The history of Sant'Agata d'Oneglia, begins in Imperia, a coastal city in the Liguria region. Liguria is a beautiful region of north-western Italy, famous for its stunning beaches, charming little towns, and amazing food. Ancient Taggiasca olive trees grow here. Around 1600, this variety was introduced to Liguria by Benedictine monks. In 1827, the local Mela family began producing extra virgin olive oil, pressing the sweet, tasty Taggiasca olives with the village's stone press. Nowadays, the press has been replaced by more modern production methods, able to ensure quality and authenticity. A tradition that has been handed down for generations. Modern equipment has replaced the old methods of production, but passion and mastery remain unaltered. These are the very values responsible for the success of the mill's traditional recipes and its extra virgin olive oil.

Passion, tradition, and love

If you ask the Mela family what the secret of Sant'Agata d'Oneglia precious oil is, they will tell you: passion, tradition, and love. On the hills of Imperia, the mill overlooks the Ligurian coast; here, the olive trees are pruned and harvested by hand. The olives are picked before they are fully ripe, sorted on the same day, and cold-pressed to create an aromatic, naturally pure, oxidant-free olive oil. The result is a delicate food that is good for your health and is also a touch of pure beauty. Today Sant'Agata d'Oneglia extra virgin olive oil is appreciated from Europe to Asia to the Americas. The company is a proud member of "Corporazione dei Mastri Oleari," a prominent fine oil producers’ organization.
