We get it, we didn't “invent” coffee…but it cannot be disputed that our blends are the most delicious! If you are looking for the best Italian coffee, this is the right place!

DID YOU KNOW THIS FASCINATING ETHIOPIAN LEGEND?

We pretend to be the “absolute authority” on all things coffee. However, we know that it wasn't an Italian invention. Read on to learn of an African legend, from the land where coffee was discovered. According to an ancient tale from Ethiopia, coffee was discovered by a very wise shepherd named Kaldi. This man discovered the incredible effect of coffee berries on his goats. The animals seemed to become very active after eating the berries. He took the fruit to a local monastery to let the monk to “study” the plant. Together, they created the first prototype of a dark beverage today known as coffee! From there, the precious beans reached the Arabian Peninsula beginning its fateful adventure around the world.

MOKA OR PODS/CAPSULES, THIS IS THE ITALIAN DILEMMA!

Coffee is still the beloved morning beverage for every Italian. As you may know, we love it “ristretto”, meaning very concentrated. Every family owns a classic moka, the traditional pot. A 2016 New York Times article stated that 90% of Italian households had one. However, Nespresso machines are swiftly becoming extremely popular. Is this the end of our glorious moka? Here is the truth: we love both. The coffee machine gives you a creamy and “velvety” coffee. On the other hand, the moka pot gives you the “experience” of a traditional Italian ritual. Just be careful because if you use too much coffee, your beverage could be extremely bitter and strong!

IS COFFEE GOOD FOR YOUR HEALTH?

We absolutely need to believe that it is true because we love coffee too much! Science, though, is on our side! Coffee can lower your risk of nonmelanoma skin cancer by about 10 percent, according to one research published in the European Journal of Cancer Prevention. Here is even more good news: the University of Exeter discovered that coffee could help in losing weight!

WHERE TO FIND THE BEST ITALIAN COFFEE

You have come to the right place! Magnifico proudly hosts an incredible selection of Italian coffee produced by Miscela d’Oro, a family owned Sicilian manufacturer, now a household name in Italy. Why do we love this coffee? Because it started in 1946, just after the end of World War II through the love of a two young couple. Spouses Emanuela and Umberto Urbano founded a small coffee roasting company, calling it literally “the gold blend”. Today, Miscela d’Oro offers the best quality coffee. You can buy this unique coffee both in capsules, which are Nespresso compatible, as well as ground beans for your moka pot.
