Tripadvisor gave the first place to the Italian capital, the eternal city.
Rome, Number 1
It's been a long time now that even dreaming to travel has been difficult. So many things are happening globally, and the pandemic is not over yet.
But trying to stay positive, we have fantastic news for you, at least about food, that it is a big part of our life.
If you are a food lover and planning the next trip, take the Tripadvisor advice: go to Rome.
Rome, in fact, took the top spot for the Best of the Best Destinations for Food Lovers, "whetting the appetites of travelers from around the globe with its authentic pasta dishes and can't-miss gelato."
Recently, the travel guidance platform announced the first annual community-powered Travelers' Choice Awards for 2022: the Best of the Best Destinations. From their words: "If 2021 was the year travelers dipped their toes in the water with smaller getaways and outdoors trips, 2022 is shaping up to be the year we return to travel in a big way. Despite new variant surges, data shows that the desire to travel remains stronger than ever. In fact, 71% of Americans in a recent Tripadvisor sponsored survey say they are likely to travel for leisure in 2022."
Coffee, ice cream and Coda alla Vaccinara…
There are several reasons why Tripadvisor chose Rome, and it's not just its eternal beauty. Rome has several dishes that you should try if you come to Italy. Few of them are well known, others less. "The Italian capital is a true collage of squares, open-air markets, and surprising historical sites. Taste a perfect espresso or ice cream before spending an afternoon shopping in Campo de' Fiori or Via Veneto. Enjoy some of the most memorable meals of your life, from fresh pasta to succulent fried artichokes", they said, giving the first prize.
Among the dishes everybody loves and tries to copy in the United States also, we have: Carbonara Pasta, made with guanciale, eggs, pecorino cheese. But Tripadvisor got in love with all kinds of “Italian pasta fresca”, like agnolotti, ravioli, fettuccine.
A dish that took all the attention was: "Coda alla Vaccinara". This oxtail stew is an iconic dish of Rome. This dish is made from the tail of a cow and braised and served with vegetables.
Another roman typical dish is "Carciofi alla giudea", which is among the most famous dishes of Roman Jewish cuisine. The recipe is essentially a deep-fried artichoke, and it's very tasty, as you can imagine.
Let's go to Rome!
Tripadvisor suggested Rome also for the coffee and the ice cream. You can find good ones everywhere in Italy, but it takes on an all different level when you drink it or eat it in front of the Coliseum or Piazza Navona.
