OCTOBER IS ITALIAN HERITAGE MONTH
This year the only thing that is not going to be virtual will be the italian food. October is Italian Heritage Month but according to the pandemic restrictions, all the traditional celebrations will happen in alternative formats, starting with the parade for Columbus Day on October 12th. Forget people walking on Fifth Avenue, the music, the horns of the wagons, the songs and the dances; you have to go online if you want to be part of this important day.
ITALY SHAPED AMERICAN CULINARY TRADITION
Even if it will be impossible to celebrate as usual, America will once again express its gratitude for the enormous contribution that Italians have provided over the years. So many categories in which Italians have made a cultural impact, most notably among these: food. The contribution is huge when we consider the culinary tradition of the US. Think about all the Italian American dishes: spaghetti with meatballs and tomato sauce, pasta Alfredo, Chicken Parmesan, Salads with Italian dressing or Penne with vodka, just to name some of them. “Today, Italian Americans are represented throughout U.S. society, from the Supreme Court to the National Academy of Sciences to the National Basketball Association - is written on the website of the United States Census Bureau - More than one hundred years after the great era of Italian immigration began, the children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren of the original immigrants continue to celebrate the heritage that their forebears brought to their new home.” Over 5.4 million Italians immigrated to the United States between 1820 and 1992. Today almost 30 million of Americans with Italian descent live in the United States.

A DIFFERENT WAY TO CELEBRATE: CHOOSE ITALIAN FOOD!
Usually a way to celebrate October Italian Heritage Month was to pick some days to spend with family and friends in some Italian restaurants or institutions. This year could be more complicated to gather together with a big group of people. But you can still celebrate Italy, cooking an Italian recipe (you can check our blog), buying the highest quality of Italian food (check the Magnifico selection), drinking a Negroni or a glass of prosecco or watching an Italian movie, for example. Magnifico Food will always be by your side in October like any other month of the year, choosing for you the best Italian products: pasta, rice, tomato sauce, coffee, pantries. The finest quality from Italy.
